Web Portfolio
In this project, you will make a portfolio of your own work or a subject that you enjoy. Consider how you can design a series of pages that communicate your message inside and out. How are you trying to brand yourself? What are the qualities that make your work desirable to a potential buyer or employer? Is there a niche market that you can fill? Who do you want to hang out with?
Within the design, consider how can you make a website that's easy to update. One of the largest benfits to making your own website is that you can update it as you make new work. Try to think of this while you're designing. Once you have a job, it becomes harder to find the time for redesign. So, work toward a design that's easy to change.
Make sure that all of your pages are titled, include search words in the header, and use HTML text wherever possible. We'll also cover google analytics if you'd like to include that feature in your portfolio.
For those of you that want to put the web site on your own server; I'd be glad to help you get that going.
Presentation:
Rather than doing a standard critique for this project, everyone will give a 5 minute presentation of their web site. The presentation doesn't have to be overly formal, but it should be convincing.
If you're looking for some extra bells and whistles, try making your own favicon. Set up a links page to direct traffic to your friends.(They'll likely do the same, and then everyone gets more traffic.) Or, sign up for google analytics to track information about your website and its visitors.
