Project 3: Rotoscoping

Referencing the examples we view in class, you will form a group and make one animation from parts animated by individual members of the group. The animation should follow a common theme and evoke an ephemeral feeling the viewer can understand by referencing their own life experiences.

To make this work, you must have a solid set of rules to keep the animation's look and feel uniform. It should look as though one person animated the whole thing. You will need to control the medium, palette, material, etc. for the whole group. If you choose to work digitally, control the colors with an agreed upon hexidecimal palette. Your choice of materials, colors, audio, editing, and camera moves should all work together to communicate a very clear point or feeling.

Your group will present your concept (with rules, material choices, color choices etc.) to the class. Please provide a visual representation, and have possible questions for the class.

Your group's animation should be at least one and a half minutes long, have audio, and be 10fps or higher. In addition to your group animation, you'll need to turn in individual folders with each persons contributions to the group. Each individual should have a minimum of twenty five seconds of animation.

Homework:

For this project, you will also be required to make a 4 second (10fps, no audio) rotoscopic self portrait using what we learn in our photoshop tutorial. This animation will be due on Tuesday November 3rd. If you need help recording video, I will have a camera in class, and can help.

Here's how the class movie turned out!
